Trench Boxes and the Construction Site (Texas A&M University Engineering Ethics Cases )
Trench digging is one of the oldest types of construction work in documented history. Historically, there have been between 100 and 300 people killed in the United States every year because of trench collapse.
The case stresses safety equipment presence on construction sites. The case also addresses the issues of the engineer's moral responsibility versus legal liability, and it is particularly well-suited for upper-level geotechnical, statics, and structures courses.
