About

The American Anthropological Association is a scholarly and professional society dedicated to advancing understanding of the human condition through anthropological research, and to applying this understanding to tackling some of the world’s most pressing problems. The Association publishes 22 scholarly journals, stages one large annual research conference and 10 smaller specialized conferences each year. The Association also provides professional development support, and is dedicated to enhancing teaching and learning. The Association has a long-standing commitment to placing research ethics in anthropology’s foreground, with ethics inscribed in the Statement of Professional Responsibilities, and an active community of scholars and practitioners built around an exchange of teaching materials and practical problem solving.
