Biography

Dr. Wilson joined the University of Kansas in 2001 and is currently an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering.  She obtained a PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999 and also trained at the University of Virginia as a post-doctoral researcher in Orthopedics.  Her primary research area is in understanding how the human body controls and stabilizes motion through the muscles and nervous system.  She has worked on issues of low back injury including investigating the role of occupational whole body vibration in the etiology of these injuries.   In addition to her work in biomechanics, Dr. Wilson is also interested in how we teach responsible conduct of research to graduate students in engineering.  In addition to engineering courses, she teaches a course in responsible conduct of research that is required of all Bioengineering graduate students at the University of Kansas.
