Melissa Scheaffer is a Principal Lecturer in the Engineering Education Department. She joined the faculty in the College of Engineering at Utah State University in 2014 when she was hired to develop and teach a newly required course, ENGR 3080, Technical Communication for Engineers. Her 25-year career in higher education includes teaching Business Writing in USU’s School of Business and serving an administrative appointment in student services administration. Melissa holds an MS degree in education with an emphasis in adult learning. Melissa has consulted with Fortune 500 companies in training their engineers in effective technical writing practices. Her research interests lie in the areas of engineering entrepreneurship and implicit and explicit approaches to writing technical documents. She recently won the Outstanding Teacher of the Year in Engineering Education and the University Service Award for the College of Engineering.
