Biography
My research experience is in automatic speech recognition and engineering and computer science education. My teaching experience ranges from basic programming through graduate courses in artificial intelligence and computational linguistics, including writing intensive courses in ethics and science fiction as well as electric circuit theory and signal processing. At Minnesota State University, Mankato, I have been the chair of the Department of Integrated Engineering, home of Iron Range Engineering and Twin Cities Engineering and serve as the advisor and campus liaison for these off campus programs. These are project-based learning programs that integrate engineering technical, design and professional skill development for upper-division engineering students. Semester-long projects come from local industry, faculty research, and student entrepreneurial ideas. The programs were recognized with the 2017 ABET Innovation Award. At the National Science Foundation, I was a program officer for the Tribal Colleges and Universities Program in the Division of Human Resource Development and am currently working as a program officer in the Division of Undergraduate Education.
