Biography
Xiaofeng “Denver” Tang is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Engineering Education at The Ohio State University. He worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar in Engineering Ethics for the Rock Ethics Institute and the Leonhard Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Education at the Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Tang received his Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His doctoral dissertation examines institutional and pedagogical strategies for integrating engineering and the liberal arts education in the U.S. Since coming to Penn State in 2014, Dr. Tang’s research has focused on developing teaching materials and pedagogical tools to help engineering faculty members integrate ethics into technical courses. Currently he is developing an online module for teaching data ethics. He and his team are also designing an ethics curriculum for the undergraduate Biological Engineering majors at Penn State. Dr. Tang is a contributor to the Penn State engineering ethics education program that was recognized by the National Academy of Engineering as a “national exemplar” in 2016. Dr. Tang’s work has appeared in Engineering Studies, the International Journal of Engineering, Social Justice, and Peace, and the ASEE Annual Conference Proceedings.
