The OEC is a project of the Center for Engineering Ethics and Society (CEES) and is thus overseen by the CEES Advisory Group, in addition to the Joint Advisory Group, which has primary oversight responsibilities. The CEES Advisory Group strives to strengthen the NAE’s collective voice and service to the nation in work pertaining to the vitality of engineering ethics in society as well as public and professional interest in and understanding of it. The group works with the CEES staff to develop plans and projects to enhance the field of engineering ethics in society and the contributions of the engineering professions to it.
The CEES Advisory Group is composed of up to 15 members, appointed by the NAE president to serve no more than two consecutive terms of two or three years. Spanning diverse organizations and perspectives, the members are drawn from the leadership of public and private institutions that play an active role in the development, promotion, and evaluation of engineering and engineering education programs and in the development and assessment of engineering ethics research, education, and practice.
