New Internet privacy issues spring up continually. This group of links provides access to information available on the topic. The sites in the second section are maintained by advocacy groups, and although they contain some of the most up-to-date news and issues, they may also have strong pro-privacy or anti-privacy agendas. The following links will search the latest news databases on each site for the most recent articles pertaining to Internet Privacy and related issues. Online Resources Dealing with Internet Privacy
Because Internet Privacy is a largely "online" issue, the world wide web has thousands of resources available pertaining to news and the debates over Internet Privacy. What follows is a list of some of the more useful links and a brief description of the sites main content. - Electronic Privacy Information Center
- EPIC is an enormous resource of links to speeches, news reports and government documents related to privacy issues. The site also has news on recent developments in the Internet privacy debate.
- Privacy Net: The Consumer Information Organization
- Privacy Net gives a comprehensive list of issues within the realm of Internet privacy as well as links to the sites of key players in the debate. It also contains several unique demonstrations on how web browsers collect user information.
- TRUSTe
- TRUSTe is a web sight dedicated to "Building a Web you can belive in." The site contains privacy resources for both the high tech web developer as well as the everyday web user.
- Center for Democracy & Technology
- The Center for Democracy & Technology maitains an excellent page with headlines concerning cryptography issues including current U.S. policy and legislation as well as landmark court cases. The CDT also maintains a page encouraging Data Privacy on the internet.
- Article: "The Right to Privacy vs. the Common Good"
- This article provides one opinion on 'privacy' as it applies to such issues as: "HIV testing of infants, encryption of communications, community warnings when pedophiles are released, the new technology of biometrics, and medical records" and the history of the legal tradition in the United States that weighs on the side of "privacy" vs. "the common good".
- Article: "Privacy as Censorship"
- The author of this article asserts that attempts to regulate privacy in the private sector are really violations of free speech. The tone of the article, and opinion "explores the tangled moral and economic issues surrounding the collection and transfer of information about consumers by businesses using the Internet and other networks". Ultimately, the author wants no regulations on trade of information in the private sector as it applies to information about consumer profiles.

- This link allows you to participate in the New York Times online and receive up-to-the minute news stories if you so desire. Of importance to the privacy link is that the site is embedded with excellent privacy information and encoding.
